Nadya – St Petersburg tourist guide

Hi, everybody! Thank you for visiting my page. My name is Nadya and I work as a licensed tour guide in St. Petersburg, Russia.

About me
I started to work as a guide in 2012 when I was a second-year bachelor student at St. Petersburg State University. My major was linguistics, translation and interpretation and I was looking for some part-time job where I could both apply my knowledge of Russian history, art and culture and maintain my language skills. That was why I decided to attend an annual course in Intourist, the largest guide-interpreter school in the city. After finishing the course and having a practical training I passed exams in the museums and historical sights I wanted to work at and my career as a guide began.

It may be interesting for you to know that I am a native of the city and was brought up in authentique atmosphere of the cultural capital. The place where I live is very special – the famous Vasilievsky island, the biggest in St.Petersburg. It has been formed as a unique place which reflects multifaceted nature of the whole city. There is a residential area, a port, several enterprises, buildings of Saint-Petersburg State University, a historical area by the embankment of the Neva river, museums and theatres – all you need to immerse yourself in the history and cultural life of the former imperial capital. And that was the place where I was born and have lived all my life so far. Needless to say, when you grow up in such a location, you get inspired by the beauty of the city and want to share your admiration for it with other people from all over the world.

I am a sociable person. I enjoy meeting people from different countries and making them feel at home. I travel myself and know how vital it is to have someone who can help you find your way in a new place, understand locals who speak a completely unknown language and choose must-see sights and combine them with off-the-beaten-track itineraries.

As for my hobbies, I am keen on studying foreign languages, travelling and dancing. I have visited ten countries and travelled in the European part of Russia. It is always so exciting for me to choose a new destination, to plan a cultural and entertainment programme and it is even more thrilling for me to do the same at home for the guests of my home town.
One more thing that is important for me in my job is flexibility. When we plan a sightseeing tour for you, we make sure it meets the purpose of your trip. If you are interested in history and art, St. Petersburg has lots of museums, palaces and art galleries to any taste. If you fancy lazing around and taking marvellous photos, there are lots of parks and gardens with fantastic sceneries and small pedestrian streets with picturesque historical constructions. There are also lots of cafés, restaurants and pubs with international cuisine for those who find food an integral part of any trip.
